In this picture you can see paper glued to the neck block. The reason for this is to make a repair (or any instrument build for that matter) repairable in the future. This means that the glue used must easily release its the joint in the future if desired – without damaging the original substance of the instrument. This paper, in combination with hide glue, makes removing a top in the future easier (for fixing cracks in the ribs, for example).
