Removing the Pick Guard
The shrinkage of this pick guard has caused several cracks in the top. It was initially glued directly to the bare wood, and it may continue to shrink and cause more damage. For this reason, the pick guard is being removed. After the cracks around the pick guard have been repaired, it can be put back or replaced in a manner that protects the top from more shrinking damage. The redness in the picture comes from a heat lamp that is used to loosen the bond between the pick guard and the top.
